Prompt Library: See what prompts mention (or miss) your brand.
Introduction
As AI-powered discovery becomes the new standard in search, visibility is no longer just about keywords and backlinks — it’s about being included in AI-generated answers. Whether someone is using ChatGPT to research tools, asking Gemini for recommendations, or querying Perplexity for industry insights, your brand’s presence in those conversations matters more than ever.
That’s where the Prompt Library in GEO Watchtower comes in.
The Prompt Library helps you understand how generative AI models are responding to real user prompts — and whether your brand is being mentioned in those responses. This tool gives you powerful visibility into where you’re showing up across AI engines like OpenAI (ChatGPT), Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini, and more importantly, where you’re not.
This article walks you through how to use the Prompt Library, what insights you’ll find, and how to use those insights to improve your Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy.
What is the Prompt Library?
The Prompt Library is a centralized hub in GEO Watchtower where you can:
View AI-generated responses to user-like prompts related to your brand or industry
See which prompts include your brand — and which don’t
Identify opportunities to improve visibility and mentions
Understand which AI engines are citing you
Continuously refine your content and AI optimization strategies
It bridges the gap between traditional SEO and AI discoverability, helping you track your brand’s relevance in real-time generative content.
Accessing the Prompt Library
To access the Prompt Library:
Log in to your Scalenut dashboard
Navigate to GEO Watchtower from the left-hand menu
Go to the Prompt Library tab from the main dashboard interface
Once inside, you’ll see a list of prompts and detailed information about how your brand appears in responses across supported AI models
Understanding the Prompt Library Interface
1. Prompt Overview
This section displays a list of prompts that are actively being tracked. For each prompt, you’ll see:
Prompt Text – The actual question or query posed to AI engines.
Brand Mention – Whether your brand is mentioned in the AI’s response.
AI Engine – Which AI engine produced the response (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Perplexity, AI Overview).
Competitors – Shows which competitors are mentioned in the AI’s response for that prompt.
Last Updated – When the response was last refreshed.
This lets you easily scan where your brand appears — and identify visibility gaps
2. Add New Prompts
You can enrich your library by manually adding more prompts. Here’s how:
Click “Add Prompt”
A popup will appear
Enter a competitive prompt — this should be a query someone might use when researching your product category (e.g., “What are the best AI SEO tools in 2025?”)
Note: Avoid using your own brand name in the prompt to keep it competitive and unbiased.
Click Add Prompt — GEO Watchtower will analyze how AI engines respond to that query and whether your brand is included.
Adding prompts regularly helps you stay aligned with evolving user behavior and emerging topics.
3. Search Prompts
You can use the search bar at the top of the Prompt Library to quickly find specific prompts by keyword. This makes navigating your prompt list faster and more focused — especially as your tracked prompts grow over time.
4. Quick Actions: Recommendations and Deletion
When you hover over any particular prompt in the list, a menu of quick actions becomes available :
View Recommendation: If your brand is not listed in the AI responses, selecting this option will show the specific Action Required to improve your visibility, leveraging the data from your Prompt Library.
Delete Prompt: Use this to easily remove a prompt if you find it is not relevant to your current tracking goals.
How the Prompt Library supports GEO strategy
The Prompt Library is a critical tool for your Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) efforts. It is the primary data source that fuels the actionable insights found in the GEO Watchtower dashboard's Recommendations feature.
Here’s how the Library powers your strategy:
Actionable Recommendations: By analyzing your prompt data and identifying gaps, the system generates aggregated actions in the Recommendations feature, allowing you to focus on specific opportunity areas:
New Article Opportunities
Backlink Suggestion
Platform Engagement Opportunities
Gap Analysis: Identify prompts where you should be mentioned but aren’t.
Content Alignment: Shape your content to better match the language and structure of AI responses.
Competitor Benchmarking: See how often your brand appears vs. competitors.
Topic Insights: Discover what types of prompts users are asking AI engines in your niche.
Trend Monitoring: Spot emerging search trends early, based on prompt frequency and themes.
Pro Tips for using Prompt Library effectively
Update Frequently: Refresh your prompt list to match changing user behavior and seasonal queries.
Be Intentional: Add prompts that reflect different stages of the buyer journey (awareness, consideration, decision).
Analyze Missed Mentions: Look at where you're not mentioned and dig into how top brands are being cited — this often reveals content structure or authority gaps.
