How to Set the Brand Tone?

What is Brand Tone?

Brand tone is the unique way your brand communicates. It reflects your personality, values, and style through every word you publish. 

From word choice to emotional undertones, it defines how you say what you say—across every platform and touchpoint.

Why Is Setting a Brand Tone So Important?

Your brand tone isn't just about aesthetics—it’s about impact. A defined tone:

  • Creates a distinct identity that sets your brand apart in crowded, AI-curated content environments.

  • Builds trust by ensuring your messaging feels familiar and authentic across all channels.

  • Boosts content effectiveness by aligning voice with audience expectations and AI language patterns.

  • Guides your teams to maintain consistency across campaigns, blogs, ads, and even AI-generated outputs.

  • Drives emotional connection, which increases recall, loyalty, and long-term brand value.

How Do We Set The Brand Tone?

In the Scalenut Dashboard, you can set the tone of your brand from two locations: 

  1. Article Configuration section of the Cruise Mode, Context section.

  2. "Tone of Voice'' sub-part of the "My Account" section.

How to set the ‘Tone of Voice’ in the Cruise Mode?

STEP 1

Log in to your Scalenut account. Then, click the “Article Writer/ Cruise Mode'' button available under GEO Core on your Scalenut Dashboard.

STEP 2

On the redirected screen, in the keywords field, enter your primary keyword along with any relevant secondary keywords. Next, select your target location, tailor your competitor benchmark, and click the “Create” button to proceed.

STEP 3

Once you click ‘Create’, you’re redirected to the Context section in Scalenut’s Cruise Mode, which lets you set the foundation for your article, including your brand’s tone of voice

Choose from defaults like “SERP Based”, “Friendly’, or create a custom tone using “Add New.” This ensures every piece of content aligns with your brand personality, whether it's for traditional SEO or AI-powered platforms. 

STEP 4

Here’s how you can add a specific tone using ‘Add New’.  You have two options: manually enter a specific tone like “Friendly” or “Authoritative,” or let Scalenut detect the tone automatically from your input. Once added, your custom tones appear in the “Your Tones” section, making them reusable for future content. This ensures your brand communicates with clarity and consistency across all GEO-optimized content.

For example, you want to set the brand tone similar to what you have read on a webpage. You can either directly paste the URL and let Scalenut identify the tone. Or, simply paste the content by selecting ‘Paste Brand Content’ 

In this case, we are setting the brand tone with the URL. Here’s how you can do it - Add the Tone Name | Paste the URL | Click ‘Add Tone’

In this example, the tone was set to “Professional” using the “Let Scalenut identify your tone” option by pasting a URL. The tool then analyzes the input and generates a descriptive summary of the tone, making it easier to align all future content with your brand’s voice. You can edit or delete any saved tones, ensuring full control over how your brand communicates across GEO-optimized content.

Here’s how your screen will look once you’ve added the tone successfully!

How to set the ‘Tone of Voice’ from the My Account section?

Similar to the Cruise Mode, you can also access and add new brand tones from the ‘My Account’ section available in the top-right corner of your Scalenut Dashboard. Here’s how you get there -

STEP 1

Log in to your Scalenut Dashboard, and head over to the My Account section by clicking on the circular profile icon available on the top-right corner.

STEP 2

On the redirected page, go to the ‘Tone of Voice’ sub-section on the left panel. Click on it, and you can set your brand tone from here.  Follow the same instructions as above and you should be good to go!

You can also review, edit, or delete your saved tones at any time from here.

Let’s say you want to add your brand tone manually now. Here’s how to do it -

In the “Tone of Voice” section under your account, you can choose the “Enter your tone manually” option and input the content that reflects your brand’s communication style. Once added, click ‘Add Tone’, and this tone gets stored and can be used across your content creation.

It’s a simple and effective way to maintain tone consistency without relying solely on predefined options.
