How to Filter Key Terms in Cruise Mode?

GEO-Focused Content Optimization Starts with the Right Key Terms

In GEO content strategies, targeting the right location-specific key terms is essential for crafting content that resonates with local audiences and ranks across regional search results or AI-driven geo-intent queries.

Filtering Key Terms in Cruise Mode helps you select or refine the most relevant keywords based on location, intent, and geographic relevance. This process improves the accuracy of your content, ensures it's aligned with regional search behavior, and boosts your visibility in geo-targeted platforms.

Whether you’re writing for a city, neighborhood, or multi-region campaign, Scalenut’s Cruise Mode gives you full control over which key terms are prioritized in your content.

Here’s how you can filter key terms in Cruise Mode:
STEP 1

Log in to your Scalenut account and select the “Article Writer” under the GEO Core and click Create.

STEP 2

Enter your primary keyword, along with any additional secondary keywords and target location (e.g., city, region, or neighborhood). Then, click “Start” to begin content generation tailored to your geographic needs.

You can also customize your competition benchmarking based on your GEO strategy. You can choose to compare against the top 10, 20, or 30 ranking pages—useful for evaluating content that performs well in the same geographic market you're targeting.

STEP 3

Click on ‘Manage Key Terms’ to review the suggested keywords and phrases pulled from competitive, geo-relevant content.

STEP 4

Select the key terms you want to include in your content and click ‘Update’.
You can also manually add custom key terms relevant to your geographic campaign by clicking on ‘Add Keyterms’.

STEP 5

When you're in the editor, navigate to the ‘Research’ tab on the left panel. Under this section, you'll find the list of key terms generated based on your GEO keyword inputs and competitive analysis.

Greyed-out key terms indicate the terms that are not currently included in your content draft. This status is based on the key term filters you applied during the context setup in Cruise Mode.

STEP 6

You can select or de-select key terms by checking the boxes next to them—this allows you to fully tailor your content to specific local terms, service areas, or neighborhood-based phrases that align with your GEO objectives.

By effectively filtering and managing your key terms in Cruise Mode, you ensure your content is:

  • Aligned with local search behavior

  • Optimized for geo-intent across regions

  • Contextually relevant to targeted locations
