Gaps & Gains: Overview

We are excited to announce the launch of Gaps and Gains, an enhancement to our existing Topic Gap feature. The new Gaps and Gains section has now replaced the Topic Gap section, offering more detailed insights to help you optimize your content strategy.

What is Gaps & Gains?

The Gaps and Gains section highlights critical insights that can significantly improve the performance of your content. Here’s what it does:

Gaps: This section identifies topics that are covered by your top competitors but are missing from your content. By addressing these gaps, you can align your content with competitive benchmarks and increase its relevance.

Gains: Here, we highlight unique topics that your competitors haven’t yet addressed, presenting an opportunity for you to create valuable content. By capitalizing on these gains, you can gain an SEO advantage and potentially attract more traffic.

Why is it important?

The Gaps and Gains feature provides a strategic overview that allows you to:

  • Close gaps in your content to stay competitive

  • Explore new opportunities through content that your competitors haven’t yet covered

  • Optimize your SEO by focusing on both missing and unique topics

Here’s how you can leverage the Gaps and Gains in the Content Optimizer -

STEP 1

Head to the Scalenut Dashboard and choose any article report from Content Optimizer Module

STEP 2

To access the Gaps & Gain, head over to the editor and click on ‘Gaps & Gain,’ available on the right panel.

STEP 3

Please wait as we identify Gaps & Gains to enhance your article’s depth and coverage. This may take a moment. Once we are done, the screen will display you the missing topics which you may include in your content. (Note: These missing topics are included in the top competitor’s content)

STEP 4

You can now check the gaps and gains in your content. Let's start by checking the gaps first.

STEP 5

Next, for any missing topic, you can click on the ‘More info’ button to refer to the content mentioned in the source URL. To view the desired content, all you have to do is hover the eye icon.

STEP 6

You can click on the robot icon to generate a paragraph for the topic.

STEP 7

Once you’ve chosen Generate the paragraph, you can find it added in the editor as displayed below.

STEP 7

Whenever there is any change in the editor ( for example, if you add a missing topic), you’ll find the ‘Regenerate’ button on the top-right. Click on it to regenerate the missing topics.

STEP 8

If you are satisfied with all the generated missing topics, you can directly add them all to your content by clicking on ‘Insert All’.

STEP 9

You can also adjust competitors as per your preference by clicking on the Settings button.

STEP 10

Here you can select up to 3 competitor URLs for your topic. If you do not wish to keep the competitors we’ve considered, you can also deselect it from here. Once done, click on ‘Gaps&Gains’.  Then it will again process the missing topics, as per your recent selection.
