Detailed Guide: How to use Keyword Planner?

Scalenut Keyword Planner helps you find content ideas and expediates your content flow.

Keyword Planner is a collection of related topics focused on a central theme. You can use these keywords to create contextual content and establish expertise in your niche.

In this article, we will take you through keyword planning and ensure you have a seamless experience navigating our tool.

Here’s how you can effectively use Scalenut’s Keyword Planner -

STEP 1

To access the Keyword Planner feature, log in to your Scalenut account and navigate to the left navigation panel on the Scalenut Dashboard. Or, directly go to the Keyword Planner available at the right corner of your Dashboard.

STEP 2

You can directly click on the 'Plan' option.

Or, click on the ‘Keyword Planner’ from the left side of the navigation panel.

In either case, you will be redirected to the Keyword Planner screen.

Here, enter a keyword and select your target location to find related content strategies or ideas. Once you've done that, click on the 'Plan' button.

STEP 3

After you get the report for your desired keyword, Click the ‘Open Report’ button to view a detailed report of Keyword clusters. In this case, let’s consider the ‘seo strategy’.

STEP 4

With Scalenut's AI, you will receive numerous clusters that include specific topic keywords for your reference. Here’s how the inside of the report would look like.

STEP 5

Now, click on the ‘Expand icon’ to see the reports of the clusters in detail. Or, can click anywhere in row to expand.

Intent -  Intent refers to the type of search intent - i.e., the general purpose behind the user’s search. It helps to understand what a person wants when they enter a search query.

  • C - Commercial Intent

  • N - Navigational Intent

  • T- Transactional Intent

  • I - Informational Intent

Search Volume - The average monthly search volume for the keyword during the past 12 months.

KD - Keyword difficulty indicates how difficult it will be for a website to rank organically in the Google Top 10 for the entire set of keywords in the cluster. A higher KD percentage indicates greater difficulty in ranking.

Please note that the level of difficulty is also marked with colorful dots beside the data. These colors are red, orange, yellow and green.

STEP 6

When you click the 'Expand' icon, you can see the list of keywords within a cluster along with details such as the intent, relevance, CPC, search volume KD and Domain Positions. Here, you can select the keywords that you would want an SEO Article for later on.

Let’s say you want to expand ‘Website optimization strategies’ . Here’s all the data that you get.

STEP 7

On expanding, the left side shows the keywords in the cluster. While the data of Intent, Relevance, CPC, Search Volume, KD and Domain Positions for each keyword in the given cluster appears on the right.

STEP 8

The keyword cluster generator is also compatible with other Scalenut research and content creation tools. Go to the cluster that best suits your business requirement, hover over it, and click on the ‘Create SEO Article’ button. You can select/ de-select keywords as per your choice.

STEP 9

You can now also view titles for the clusters. Simply click on the check box beside the ‘View Titles’ option and it’ll be available below the clustered keywords.

STEP 10

Now, you can also hover over the ‘Top Domains’ to view the top 10 ranking domains for the specific keyword cluster. In which it will show the percentage of keywords on which the domain is ranking. Higher percentage means that domain has covered more keywords from the cluster.

STEP 11

Alternatively, you can also click on ‘Keywords’ to view search volume, relevance and CPC (cost per click) for each keyword.

STEP 10

You can also export the cluster and keyword list by clicking on the ‘Export’ option available on your screen.
